Seann Harlingten had a two-shot lead after two rounds and carded a 4-under 68 in the final round to hold on for a two-shot victory at the OnCore Gateway Tour’s ExecuCar Classic at Sundance Golf Club.

Harlingten carded a 69 in round one and came out with an impressive 6-under 66 in the second round that included a 6-under 30 on the back nine to get the second round lead at 9-under par.

John Ellis and John Wise stood at 7-under after the second round and were in the final grouping with Harlingten for the final round, just two shots back. Harlingten shot 34 on the front nine and made the turn at 11-under, while Ellis kept ground with a 34 on the front to turn at 9-under. Wise managed just one birdie and a bogey on the front and was four back with nine holes to play at 7-under par.

Things got interesting right off the bat on the back nine. Harlingten made a bogey on the par-5 10th, while Ellis carded a clutch birdie to knot things up with Harlingten at 10-under. Both players made birdies on the par-4 12th to keep things tied at 11-under before Harlingten broke things open on the par-4 15th.

Harlingten capitalized on an Ellis bogey on the 15th with a birdie of his own to take a two-shot lead, and Ellis didn’t have the firepower to catch Harlingten down the stretch with just three holes to play. Both players made par on 16 and 17, then they matched birdies on the par-4 18th to secure the two-shot win for Harlingten.

Ellis carded a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish solo second at 11-under, while Wise finished third at 8-under despite his 71 in the final round.

Harlingten went 69-66-68 for the tournament and had 19 birdies and six bogeys. It was his first win of the season and his fifth Top-10 finish in six starts this year.

Doug Quinones fired a 3-under 69 in the final round, including a birdie on the final hole to finish T4 at 7-under for the tournament. Eric Hawerchuk also finished T4 after his final-round 71, while Joseph Bramlett, Jake Younan and Brock Mackenzie all finished T6 at 6-under par.

This was the first of six tournaments on the OnCore Gateway Tour’s Spring Series, which began with a one-day Spring Series Sponsorship Event earlier this week, with the winner getting FREE entry into all six Spring events. Harlingten, Younan and Steele Dewald all shot 6-under 66 to tie for first place – with each player earning two free entries this Spring season. Dewald was at 7-under but made a bogey on the par-5 18th hole that allowed Harlingten and Younan join him in first place.
