DILLON EARNS TWO-SHOT WIN AT BOLLE SUNGLESSES OPEN

Ryan Dillon carded a final-round 3-under 68 and finished at 13-under par to win by two shots at the OnCore Gateway Tour’s Bolle Sunglasses Open at McDowell Mountain Golf Club.

Dillon shot 67-65 in the first two rounds and held a three shot lead going into the last day, but was pressed by Andre Metzger and Cory Renfrew in the final round. Dillon carded three birdies on the front nine to make the turn at 13-under, but Renfrew held steady with four birdies on the front to get to 11-under, trimming Dillon’s lead to just two shots.

Renfrew put more heat on Dillon after he opened the back nine with a birdie on the par-4 10th, and after Dillon bogeyed the par-4 12th things were all tied up with Renfrew at 12-under par with six holes to play.

Metzger wasn’t in the mix much early, recording just two birdies on the front to make the turn at 9-under, but he made a run with three straight birdies on holes 12-14 to get within one of Dillon, who got back to 13-under after a birdie on the par-3 14.

Dillon made only pars to finish at 13-under, leaving the door open for both Renfrew and Metzger, but both players made costly bogeys down the stretch to secure the win for Dillon, who finished T4 last week at Quintero.

Renfrew bogeyed the par-4 15th while Metzger bogeyed the par-3 17th to finished T2 at 11-under par. Both players shot 4-under 67.

Last week’s winner Brock Mackenzie shot a final-round 69, including a birdie on the final hole to sneak into the Top-5, finishing T4 at 7-under par with Daniel Miernicki and Joseph Affrunti.
